About QDI systems

At QDI systems, we develop and manufacture quantum dot materials and image sensors for both X-ray and short-wave infrared (SWIR) domains. We have an in-house capacity to process both CMOS and TFT image sensors. Our quantum dots materials and sensors are suitable for a variety of applications, ranging from medical imaging, machine vision, security, inspection, consumer electronics, and more.

QDI systems was founded in Groningen (NL) in 2019 as a spin-off from the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials at the University of Groningen, with the goal of developing imaging products based on quantum dots. Our journey began with a significant R&D effort in revolutionising medical X-ray by replacing the traditional conversion layer with our quantum dots material. This breakthrough made us the first company in the world to apply quantum dots technology to medical imaging such as X-ray and mammography screenings. Since then, we have perfected our proprietary method of manufacturing large volumes of versatile quantum dots in a cost-effective and unique way. Our patented technology allows for the scalable fabrication of semiconductor quantum dots-based films with varying thickness and sizes. This versatility makes them suitable to not only medical X-ray but SWIR, NIR, and UV imaging systems, depending on our clients’ needs.
