QDI systems has launched a vision technology that utilises light-absorbing quantum dots to enhance imaging across multiple industries. This breakthrough enables superior sensitivity and accuracy in vision systems, opening new possibilities for inspection, diagnostics and automation.
Electro Optics spoke to QDI systems‘ Chief Business Officer Juul Gielens about the project ahead of the company’s appearance at VISION 2024’s Start-Up World: ‘Quantum dots are only just beginning.’, said Gielens.
QDI systems, a five-year-old start-up founded by Artem, is preparing to showcase its quantum dot technology at Vision, a key machine vision event. The company, based in Groningen, has received €7 million in funding and is transitioning from R&D to commercial production. QDI Systems specializes in quantum dots, which offer cost advantages over traditional technologies like indium gallium arsenide. They will present a demonstration camera with a broad bandwidth, aiming to attract new applications and customers. The company is also recruiting talent, particularly in semiconductor processing, and values specific, tangible collaborations with integrators.
