Your role

As an Opto-Electronic Engineer, you will take the lead in the integration of advanced camera systems, combining expertise in electronics, optics, and semiconductor processes. A significant portion of your work will involve electronics development, characterization, and debugging at board and module level. You will play a key role in developing and refining our opto-electronic modules, including tasks such as wire bonding, sensor integration, and system optimization.

Working closely with our multidisciplinary R&D team, you will ensure that our imaging systems perform to the highest standards, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in next-generation imaging technologies. This role suits an engineer who enjoys hands-on experimentation, precision, and translating cutting-edge research into reliable, scalable systems. As our company continues to grow, this position offers excellent opportunities for technical leadership and professional development, including specialization in advanced integration technologies or broader system engineering responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead the integration of camera and sensor systems, including wire-bonding and packaging
  • Develop, test, and debug electronic circuits and PCB-based sub-systems for imaging modules
  • Design, test, and optimise opto-electronic components and sub-systems
  • Collaborate with research and process engineers to ensure system performance and reliability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve integration challenges related to optics, electronics, and materials
  • Contribute to prototype development, testing, and transition from R&D to small-scale production
  • Document designs, processes, and test results with high accuracy.

About you

You are a technically-driven, hands-on engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of optics and electronics. You thrive in a collaborative R&D environment and take pride in turning innovative ideas into robust, working hardware. You feel comfortable with both electronics and optical tasks and enjoy switching between them depending on the project phase.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MSc or BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Photonics, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of experience in opto-electronic design, camera system integration, or sensor packaging
  • Practical experience with electronics assembly, PCB debugging, wire bonding, PCB/electronics assembly, and optical alignment
  • Knowledge of semiconductor processes, optical characterization, or image sensor technology is a strong plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and quality
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset

What we offer

  • Be a part of a growing deep-tech company at the forefront of imaging innovation
  • A role where your contributions directly drive technological progress
  • Continuous learning and growth opportunities from day one
  • Competitive compensation and benefits, including:
    • Pension scheme participation
    • 8% holiday allowance (of gross annual income)
    • 25 days of annual leave (based on full-time employment)
    • Travel allowance
  • A supportive, on-site work environment that values collaboration, initiative, and professional development

If you’re passionate about opto-electronic systems, quantum dot technology, precision, and innovation, we’d love to hear from you.
