QDs for SWIR

Security and Low-visibility Imaging

Short-wave infrared (SWIR) covers wavelengths from 900 nm to 1700 nm, unlocking solutions for applications that are often invisible in the visible spectrum. Like visible light detection, SWIR relies on photons that are reflected or absorbed by objects, but it offers a key advantage: high contrast imaging even in low-visibility conditions or over long distances. This makes SWIR technology particularly valuable for security and defence applications.

Security operations demand imaging systems capable of see through disguises, detecting hidden threats, and performing reliably in low-visibility environments. While conventional IR cameras are useful for thermal detection, they often struggle to clearly distinguish human features. Similarly, visible light detection is limited in challenging conditions such as low light, smoke, fog, dust, or adverse weather.

Our quantum dot-powered SWIR technology addresses these challenges at a fraction of the cost of traditional SWIR systems, offering:

  • Imaging through camouflage
  • High-performance imaging in low-visibility conditions
  • Imaging through reduced atmospheric scattering
  • Laser detection
